Admission to the M.Sc. Study in Psychology

New General Regulations for the Access and Admission to Non-Teaching Master Programs at the University of Potsdam (ZulO) based on the Brandenburg University Access Act (BbgHZG) from 17 December 2015 and the Higher Education Admission Regulation (HZV) from 23 February 2016 are in force.

In addition to the General Regulations for the Access and Admission to Non-Teaching Master Programs at the University of Potsdam (Zulassungsordnung - ZulO), the discipline-specific admission regulations regulate the requirements and the admission procedure for the M.Sc. in Psychology (Non-Teaching Degree).

  1. General admission requirements are:

    1. a Bachelor degree or an equivalent first professional degree at a university or

    2. a degree equivalent to the item a) from a university outside Germany, provided that it does not differ significantly.

  2. Particular requirements are in accordance with the Discipline-Specific Application and Admission Regulations for the M.Sc. Degree in Psychology:

    1. A bachelor-level degree in psychology with a regular study period of at least 3 years and a minimum of 180 credits,

    2. Bachelor degree in a psychology specialization with a minimum of three years of study (at least 180 credits) fulfills the conditions of access only if it can be proven that it included examinations in methodology, statistics, psychological diagnostics, in all basic areas of psychology (general psychology, biological psychology, developmental psychology, personality psychology, social psychology), in clinical psychology, and at least two other fields of applied psychology (eg work and organizational psychology and educational psychology)

    3. Language proficiency in English which corresponds at least to level B2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages

    4. Candidates whose mother tongue is not German must demonstrate sufficient knowledge of German according to DSH 2.
